Chris Buescher Outraces Competition And Mother Nature To Earn First Career Nascar Sprint Cup Series Victory

Chris Buescher Outraces Competition And Mother Nature To Earn First Career Nascar Sprint Cup Series Victory

Long Pond, PA – Aug 01, 2016: Chris Buescher (34) wins the Pennsylvania 400 at the Pocono Raceway in Long Pond, PA. Every NASCAR driver remembers where and when he earned his first Sprint Cup Series victory.  For Wiley X®-sponsored driver Chris Buescher, who notched his first trip to Victory Lane at Pocono Raceway on Monday, August 1st, it will be particularly memorable for a variety of reasons. Buescher’s win in the Pennsylvania 400 was far from traditional or routine.  The race was rain-delayed and then, during lap 133 of a scheduled 160, a thick fog settled over portions of the raceway that made it nearly impossible for drivers, television commentators and spectators in the stands to see what was going on. Prior to the fog rolling in, Buescher had taken the lead by staying out on the track while other cars pitted, and with some favorable intervention from Mother Nature, this pit crew strategy paid off.  Buescher may have been sitting in his car on pit row when NASCAR declared the results official due to inclement weather after 138 laps, but his first victory will always be sweet, nonetheless. It’s not as if Buescher hadn’t tasted success before — he was NASCAR...

WILEY X® SUPPORTS IMPORTANT CHILDRENS VISION AWARENESS CAMPAIGNS IN AUGUST

As Back to School Nears, It’s More Important Than Ever to Focus on Eye Health and Safety, Including the Need to Protect All Kids, Not Just Those Who Wear Prescription Eyewear Across America, millions of children are getting ready for the new school year, so it’s no coincidence that two important campaigns choose August each year to shine a spotlight on the important topic of children’s vision.  And each year, premium protective sunglass manufacturer Wiley X® does its part to help spread the message and raise awareness for the important issues of children’s vision health and protection in a dangerous world. The College of Optometrists in Vision Development (COVD.org ), along with state and local governments, commemorate August as Children’s Vision and Learning Month.  The purpose of this annual campaign is to highlight the direct connection between vision and learning and educate parents about the need for regular vision exams.  Exams before every school year can help detect vision problems and allow for corrective measures that can greatly enhance a child’s learning experience.  “Studies show that more than 5 million children in America have vision problems that...

MATT KENSETH WINS NEW HAMPSHIRE 301 FOR SECOND SPRINT CUP SERIES VICTORY OF THE SEASON

MATT KENSETH WINS NEW HAMPSHIRE 301 FOR SECOND SPRINT CUP SERIES VICTORY OF THE SEASON

With 44 laps to go around New Hampshire Motor Speedway’s 1.058-mile oval, Wiley X®-sponsored driver Matt Kenseth took the lead from Martin Truex, Jr., then survived a rash of crashes, cautions and re-starts to hold on for victory in July 17’s New Hampshire 301.  The NASCAR Sprint Cup Series win was Kenseth’s second of the season and locked him into eighth place in the current 2016 Sprint Cup Championship point standings. In a race that was fraught with challenges over the final 30 or so laps, Kenseth was able to stay out front and out of trouble.  He credited his team and crew chief Jason Ratcliff for giving him the car he needed to prevail.  As the victor Sunday, Kenseth enjoyed more than the glory and sense of accomplishment that comes with beating the world’s best drivers — he also got to claim the unique fresh lobster trophy that goes to race winners at this New England track.  This is something he’s becoming accustomed to, as this latest trip to New Hampshire Motor Speedway’s victory lane was the third of Kenseth’s career and his second in a row at this track.  He won a Chase for the Sprint Cup playoff race there last fall. “Matt has had a great season...

The 2016 theme for National Safety Month is Safe For Life, and to support this, the National Safety Council is providing a wealth of resources designed to inform and educate Americans about often hidden dangers and various ways to improve safety at work, on the road and at home. According to the organization, there are about 107,000 injuries every day across America — all of which could be prevented with proper measures. Wiley X certainly knows that the vast majority of eye injuries could be prevented through the simple act of wearing proper protective eyewear. WILEY X® GETS BEHIND EDUCATIONAL EFFORTS OF WORKPLACE EYE WELLNESS MONTH, OFFERS ITS INNOVATIVE NEW WORKSIGHT™ LINE FOR WORK AND LEISURE WEAR

According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, there are more than 20,000 workplace eye injuries each year in America, often requiring one or more missed workdays for recovery. Additionally, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) reports that workplace eye injuries cost an estimated $300 million annually in lost productivity and worker compensation.  These are pretty shocking statistics, especially when it is widely recognized that more than 90 percent of these injuries — and their related economic impacts — could be avoided if more workers would simply wear proper protective eyewear. Each year, the month of March is dedicated to raising “visibility” of this issue through Workplace Eye Wellness Month, an awareness and educational campaign of non-profit organization Prevent Blindness.  As an innovator of protective eyewear products for U.S. workers, soldiers, law enforcement, top NASCAR drivers, professional bass anglers and others who work and play in demanding conditions, Wiley X®, Inc. is a long-time supporter of Workplace Eye Wellness Month. “These statistics point out the immense financial burden workplace eye injuries place on American businesses...

KEVIN HARVICK® DOMINATES AAA 400 AT DOVER INTERNATIONAL SPEEDWAY, MOVES TO CHALLENGER ROUND OF SPRINT CUP CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES

KEVIN HARVICK® DOMINATES AAA 400 AT DOVER INTERNATIONAL SPEEDWAY, MOVES TO CHALLENGER ROUND OF SPRINT CUP CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES

Wiley X® sponsored NASCAR driver and 2014 Sprint Cup Series Champion Kevin Harvick® found himself in a must-win situation Sunday, October 4: Take the checkered flag at the AAA 400 at Dover International Speedway, and Harvick would move on to the Sprint Cup Series Chase Contender Round for the opportunity to defend his crown against the world’s best drivers. Anything less than a victory in this race would have eliminated Harvick and forced him to think about what might have been if not for some bad breaks (such as falling from the lead back to 21st in last week’s Sylvania 300 after running out of fuel at the end). Racing fans who have followed Harvick this season could hardly be surprised that he once again responded to this kind of daunting challenge.  He didn’t just win the AAA 400; he dominated the field.  Harvick began the race in 15th position, worked his way into the lead by Lap 24 of the one-mile concrete oval, and consistently fought off challenger after challenger. He led the race seven times for a race-high 355 of the 400 total laps — a new career best for Harvick in terms of laps led in a Sprint Cup race.  The AAA 400 win marked Harvick’s 31st career Sprint...

MATT KENSETH WINS SYLVANIA 300, PUNCHING HIS TICKET TO CONTENDER ROUND OF 2015 SPRINT CUP CHASE

Loudon, NH – Sep 27, 2015: The NASCAR Sprint Cup Series teams take to the track for the Sylvania 300 at New Hampshire Motor Speedway in Loudon, NH. By earning his fifth victory of the season in this weekend’s Sylvania 300 at New Hampshire Motor Speedway, Wiley X® sponsored NASCAR driver Matt Kenseth once again showed why he is among the favorites to win NASCAR’s 2015 Sprint Cup Series Championship If a strong finish to the season is an indicator of things to come, Kenseth will indeed be hard to beat in his quest to be crowned champion.  Kenseth has been on quite a roll, as his September 27th win marked his fourth victory in his last eight races. Making this win particularly sweet for Kenseth was the fact that it punched his ticket for the Contender Round of the 2015 Sprint Cup Series “playoffs” — quite literally the road to the championship.  The Contender Series kicks off in two weeks at Charlotte Motor Speedway. If recent trends continue, he’ll likely have company (and stiff competition) there from other top Wiley X sponsored drivers — namely, Joey Logano and Carl Edwards.  In fact, Logano took third place and Edwards fifth place in New Hampshire this weekend,...

Top NASCAR Driver Matt Kenseth Dominates Field In Federated Auto Parts 400

Wiley X® sponsored NASCAR driver Matt Kenseth continued his hot streak in appropriate fashion by dominating the competition throughout Saturday night’s Federated Auto Parts 400 at Richmond International Raceway. Kenseth didn’t just win the race, he lead the field for 352 of 400 laps and held off all challengers in convincing style. Fellow Wiley X-sponsored driver Joey Logano, who’s also been on a bit of a hot streak, finished third under the lights at Richmond, giving team Wiley X two drivers in the Top 5. Richmond, VA – Sep 13, 2015: Matt Kenseth (20) takes the Dollar General Toyota to Victory Lane after winning the Sprint Cup Series Federated Auto Parts 400 at Richmond International Raceway in Richmond, VA. This latest win was Kenseth’s fourth of the season and 35th of his illustrious Sprint Cup Series career. Perhaps even more notably, this was Kenseth’s third victory in the last six races. This consistency over the past month-and-a-half will surely give Kenseth the momentum he needs as he moves into his next challenge — the Sprint Cup Series “playoffs” that begin next weekend at Chicagoland Speedway. At the conclusion of a four-race elimination tournament...
Wiley X Sponsored Driver Joey Logano Excels At Watkins Glen, Winning Nascar Xfinity Series And Sprint Cup Series Races Back-To-Back

Wiley X Sponsored Driver Joey Logano Excels At Watkins Glen, Winning Nascar Xfinity Series And Sprint Cup Series Races Back-To-Back

Joey Logano had himself a great weekend August 8-9 at Watkins Glen Raceway in New York, winning the NASCAR XFinity Series Race on Saturday, then following that up with a thrilling last-lap victory at the Sprint Cup Series Cheez-It 355 on Sunday. It was a wild finish to the Sprint Cup Series race, as Logano never led the race until literally the very end. Fellow Wiley X driver Kevin Harvick® was comfortably in the lead and trying to conserve fuel to make it to the end of the race. Logano knew this, and was pushing him as hard as he could throughout the final lap to make Harvick use more fuel than he wanted. The strategy worked, as Logano shot past Harvick at the last minute to take the checkered flag. Harvick coasted to the finish line on fumes, still taking third place. Fellow team Wiley X racer Matt Kenseth finished fourth behind Harvick, and Carl Edwards, also sponsored by Wiley X, finished in eighth place — giving Wiley X an impressive four racers in the Top 10. Interestingly, this was the second consecutive week where a NASCAR race was won in this fashion. Last week at Pocono, Kyle Busch ran out of gas on the final lap and Matt Kenseth passed him for the win. Logano’s last-lap...
