HOYA Vision Care Launches Photochromic Lens Brand Sensity Offers Independent ECPs Brand Differentiating Technology

Ally of the Independent eye care professional, HOYA Vision Care announced today the U.S. launch of Sensity, a brand differentiating photochromic lens technology. “The only way for independent practices to overcome commoditization and price erosion is for HOYA to provide them with new technology that is not available anyplace else,” said Barney Dougher, President of HOYA Vision Care, North America. He continued, “Sensity is not a ‘me too’ product. It has distinctive technological advances in its processing and performance that will provide points of differentiation for independents that will make their patients happy.” Photochromic lens wearers are often disappointed with the inconsistency of lens activation and fade back performance at different times of the year. This is an issue particularly with people who live in distinctive four-season climates. Sensity has StablightTM Technology which ensures the lenses perform consistently in varying climates and temperatures. Previously launched in the U.K. and Europe, Sensity has received an excellent reception from eye care professionals and patients. Of particular note is the pleasing aesthetics of the colors. Patients Tell HOYA, Looking for Relief from Blue Light Fatigue

Patients Tell HOYA, Looking for Relief from Blue Light Fatigue

HOYA Vision Care recently commissioned a consumer research study to test market messaging options with eye care patients. “Strategies for Keeping Purchases at Independent Practices: Prescribing for Blue Light Overexposure” is the title of the study results summary report released today that summarizes the research findings and offers independent ECPs easy to implement tactics. The science behind HOYA’s product development is complex; however the benefits to patients are very concrete. HOYA’s customers, independent ECPs, need tools to simply share the environmental concerns we have in our society today and then prescribe a solution to their patients. People have very real, chronic symptoms brought on by over exposure to blue light and, together with the doctor, we can help them. The study HOYA conducted, results, and tools will help ECPs help their patients as well as build their individual brands. Respondents in the study shared with HOYA: They had either never heard of blue light or only associated it with sleep patterns, rather than eye health Acknowledged that blue light can cause macular degeneration, though such terms were viewed as scare tactics They would listen to their...

Hoya Vision Care Puts An End To The “Blue Light” Blues

Data from the Vision Council show patients most desire scratch resistance as the quality they want most in their eye glass lenses. News outlets from USA Today to Popular Mechanics have all run stories on the negative effects of blue light emitted from back lit devices on our eyes, overall heath, and especially on sleep patterns and fatigue. The original launch of Recharge was the first AR treatment to offer blue light filtering. Today, in response to patient demands and environmental need, HOYA Vision Care is announcing the launch of their next generation of blue light filtering AR treatment- Recharge EX3™ AR treatment. “The initial launch of Recharge was a big success” stated Barney Dougher, President of HOYA Vision Care, NA. “We have since been able to further improve the blue light filters in Recharge. In addition we enhanced the scratch resistance properties so now Recharge is at the same level as Super Hi-Vision EX3 AR treatment; which has a Bayer rating higher than glass. If I own an independent practice I’m really excited about Recharge. Everyone who walks into your practice should leave with Recharge EX3. The benefits to your patients will differentiate you from the...

How Much Do Kids Understand About Eyecare?

Prompted by research showing that parents desire more education on lens options and eyewear care, Hoya Vision Care North America and PPG Industries (NYSE:PPG) hosted a professional roundtable on “Engaging With Today’s Parents to Promote Pediatric Vision.” The event, held on June 28 during Optometry’s Meeting® in San Diego, Calif., included a panel of optometrists who each have decades of experience in treating kids. During the roundtable, participants identified important factors to consider when recommending eyeglasses for kids, including reactions from children and their parents. Discussions also included issues related to eyewear care and compliance, the connection between eye health and overall health and the role of vision in classroom performance and behavior. “We all know that kids’ eyewear needs are different from those of adults, and that parents’ perspectives often influence how well those needs are met,” said Dr. Ann-Marie Lahr, director of education at Hoya Vision Care and moderator for the event. “That’s why it’s essential for optometrists to engage parents.
