The CARRERA sunglass brand returned to Los Angeles to host its annual chic summer oasis – this time showcasing its newest collection, the Carrera 6000. West Coast based trendsetters were able to kick back and relax in a private bungalow, located poolside at the Chateau Marmont hotel. Produced by The BMF Media Group, the not-to-be-missed private event took place on Saturday, July 21st from 8:00 p.m. – 12:00 a.m.
Sophisticated and stylish tastemakers were invited to be one of the first to view the vintage-inspired, unisex Carrera 6000 sunglass collection. The timeless and iconic square sunglass shape is available in 12 fashionable colors with a retro feel and distinctive wave temples. The collection was named after the 6000° temperature of the sun’s photosphere. Highlighted by gloss/matte color contrasts, vertical stripes in the sports style-inspired versions or camouflage tones, the glasses are made from Optyl™, a registered Safilo Group trademark which identifies an exclusive ultra-lightweight, hypoallergenic material which features a soft-touch effect and is designed not to deform, even at high temperatures. The glasses retail for $129.00 and are available at department stores, sunglass specialty stores and better optical retailers nationwide.
Celebrity attendees who sampled the Carrera 6000 sunglasses at the VIP event included TV stars such as actor Josh Henderson, who is currently starring in the new TV series remake of Dallas; cast members Emily VanCamp, Josh Bowman and Gabriel Mann of the new TV series Revenge; actor Sam Page of the Mad Men TV series; and star of TV show Are You There, Chelsea? actress Laura Prepon (also famous for her role on That ‘70s Show), and character actor Clifford Collins Jr. (seen a wide range of films including Sunshine Cleaning, Star Trek, Brothers and Babel).
Other notable actors in attendance included: Kevin Conolly (starred in Entourage HBO TV series), Emile Hirsch (starred in the films Milk and Into the Wild), Adam Rodriguez (starred in the film Magic Mike and on the popular TV series CSI), Harold Perrineau (starred on TV series Lost), Brie Larson (appeared in the film 21 Jumpstreet), Adrianne Palicki (Friday Night Lights), Jesse Bradford, Caroline D’ Amore, Amber Lancaster, Zach Conroy (The Bold and the Beautiful), Zelda Williams (daughter of actor Robin Williams), Max Minghella (son of film director Anthony Minghella) and Shawn Pyfrom (Desperate Housewives).
Attendees amped up their fun and feisty summer beauty looks with mini makeovers at the COVERGIRL beauty bar where the focus was on full lashes and luscious runway lips by celebrity makeup artist Amy Nadine. As guests were introduced to the new Carrera 6000, they enjoyed fresh specialty cocktails by Appleton Estate Jamaica Rum and fun summer beats from world renowned DJ, Ana Calderon.
Los Angeles is a style mecca and the legendary vibe of the Chateau Marmont perfectly complemented the vintage styling of this new Carrera fashion sunglass concept — making it the perfect setting to launch the new Carrera 6000 sunglass collection on the West Coast. The East Coast launch event of the Carrera 6000 was held on June 20th at Gansevoort Plaza in New York City’s Meatpacking District and was attended by actors Adrian Grenier and Dominic Cooper, super models Erin Heatherton, Chrissy Teigen and Joan Smalls, celebrity DJs Solange Knowles, Mia Moretti and Theophilus London, among others.
Safilo Group produces and distributes the Carrera collection of sunglasses and optical frames.
The history of the CARRERA brand begins in 1956 in the field of sports glasses, ski goggles and helmets. CARRERA is named after the famous trans-Latin American car race, “La Carrera Panamericana.” A prominent sunglasses brand which achieved cult status in the ‘80s, CARRERA has enjoyed resurgence in recent years. With the brand’s unmistakable retro styling, iconic aviator shapes and distinctive details, the brand reintroduced popular vintage styles in Europe in 2007 with much success and later, in August 2008, in the U.S., at select Solstice Sunglasses locations. March 2009 marked the national launch of CARRERA sunglasses with an expanded collection of offerings now being carried by major department and specialty stores across the country. The CARRERA collection of sunglasses and optical frames is manufactured and distributed by Safilo Group which acquired the Austrian-based Carrera Optyl company in 1996.
